Ara Pacis. Alter to the Peace.

Text: ARAM PACIS AVGUSTAE SENATVS PRO REDITV MEO CONSACRANDAM CENSVIT
The Senate in honour of my return decreed that an alter to the Peace of Augustus should be consecrated.

Extract from Mon.Anc. 12:
Cum ex Hispania Galliaque, rebus in iis provincis prospre gestis, Romam redi Ti. Nerone P. Quintilio consulibus, aram pacis Augustae senatus pro reditu meo sonsacrandam censuit ad campum Martium.

On my return to Rome from Spain and Gaul, in the consulship of Tiberius Nero and Publius Quinctilius, after the successful conclusion of affairs in those provinces the Senate in honour of my return decreed that an alter to the Peace of Augustus should be consecrated on the Campus Martius.

Ara Pacis, the alter to the peace, was reconstructed by the regime close to the Mausoleum of Augustus in 1937 in connection with celebration of Augustus.
