Sanctuary of those killed in war.

Text: RACCONTATE AL POPOLO COME SIA DOLCE L'ORGOGLIO DEL SANGVE VERSATO (DELCROIX)
Tell the people how sweet the proudness of poured blood is

The illustration is from Sacrario die Martiri, the chapel of the martyrs in the Mostra delle Rivoluzione Fascista Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution, an exhibition in Rome in 1932. Adelberto Libera and Antonio Valente designed a sanctuary for the martyrs; a circle shaped room, as a tribute to the fascist martyrs, now the nation’s martyrs. The minimalist circular room focused on a simple; large cross-inscribed with the words "Per la Patria immortale" (for the immortal fatherland). As if in response to the inscription on the cross, which stood on a blood-red pedestal, the walls repeated the word Presente, referring to the living memory of the fallen. The room combined the religious and the patriotic team.
