The subject to the right: "Aurora" by Guido

Aurora is in Roman mythology a personification of the dawn. In Greek mythology she is called Eos. In work of art she is represented as a young woman, either, as on this stamp, rising from the sea in a chariot draw by winged horses or walking with a youth in her arms. On this illustration she has a picker in her hand, as a symbol of her as the goddess who dispenses the dews of the morning.
On the stamp Aurora is portrayed together with four aeroplanes.

The stamp was intended for mail to Island.
