Mother and child welfare

Text: TREPIDA VIGILANZA SU OGNI CULLA
Anxious watch beside every cradle

A mother is watching her sleeping child (male). The regime wanted women to be in the home, watching the new generation of Italians.
Fascists in general viewed women exclusively as housewives and ‘mothers of the race’. The regime fostered conservative social values that reinforced traditional mores. The Party trained young females to be wives and mothers, while state agencies provided maternity assistance, hygiene instructions, and child care information.
