hae tibi erunt aetes, pacique imponere morem
parcere subiectis et debellare superbos.

remember thou; O Roman, to rule the nation with thy sway,
these shall be thine arts to crown Peace with law,
to spare the humbled, and to tame in war the proud.

Anchises' prophecy to Aeneas. According to the Aeneid (6.748-6.755) Anchises and Aeneas are sitting on a hill watching the prohecies passing by.
