St. Francis in front of the church of Porziuncola.

St. Francis repaired the little church Porziuncola that was located on the plain below Assisi. The church was dedicated to the blessed virgin. Today the church is located inside the patriarchal basilica. Porziuncola is known as the cradle of the Franciscan order. The marks on the hands of the saint are the stigmata which he got after seeing a vision.
