The cruise of Graf Zeppelin (Crociera Zeppelin). Air mail.

Date of issue: April 24, 1933. Valid only on this cruise.

Even if the Graf Zeppelin airship was a German enterprise, this was probably not the reason for the publication of the series. The airship Graf Zeppelin is a common motive on international stamps in the 1930s.

The Graf Zeppelin, completed in 1928, was one of the most famous airships constructed. It inaugurated the transatlantic flight service. The Graf Zeppelin, or LZ 127, was in service from 1928 to 1940.

The border design is the same for each stamp. Two columns, in the shape of Roman milestones, form the frame for the center image. On the top of the left column the armes of Savoy with fasces. On the right column the inscription "Anno XI" with "MCMXXXIII" underneath - Year 11 in the fascist era and 1933. On top "Crociera Zeppelin", Cruise of the Zeppelin. At the bottom border the words "Posta Aera" are printed with two wings between, surrounding the numeral.
