700th Death Anniversary of St. Anthony of Padua (VII centenario Antoniano).

Date of issue: March 9, 1930. Valid up to June 30, 1932.

St. Anthony  (1195-1231), canonised 1232, was a Franciscan friar, doctor of the church, patron of the poor. Padua and Portugal claim him as their patron saint. His feast day is on June 13th. In art he is shown with a book, a heart, a flame, a lily or the child Jesus.

On 20c and 25c: On the left border panel on top the arms of Savoy with fasces and the text "VII centrenario MCCXXXI" together with two lilies underneath. On right border panel a symbol with the cross, two arms and the words "pax et bonum" on top, and "Antoniano MCMXXXI" together with three lilies under.
On 30c and 50c: the lilies are missing, and the years are written with numbers. On 75 and 1,25 l: the text is moved up to the top panel.
On 5+2,50 L the words are on the bottom. Lilies only on the border panels.

The stamp 5-2.50 lire has a different design.
