Emanuele Filiberto (1528-1580) was duke of Savoy who recovered most of the land his father Charles III had lost to France and Spain. He was a skilled soldier, a wily diplomat and an able administrator who restored economic equilibrium to Savoy while freeing it from foreign occupation. He moved Savoy’s capital from Chanbéry to Turin and substituted Italian for Latin as the official language.
All stamps have the text "IV centenario di Emanuele Filiberto" placed in the frame or at the bottom, and Torino 1528 - 1928 in different versions.
